What a great start to an awesome beginning!  ARCA Remax 2006 Daytona outside pole and a second place finish – what a feeling. Seventy plus cars, qualifying on a time of 48.816 @184.366 mph.

After  gaining so much experience from the Roush Driver X / Discovery Channel Reality Show, Matt proved he can retain all that he has learned and adapt to this new world of  media and NASCAR with the Robert Yates Racing Team.

With new goals and a new series in the UARA-Stars touring Late models Division for 2005, Matt has already proven that he is prepared in whatever the event to climb to the top with 4 poles and 5 wins in his first season. Matt is the 2005 UARA-STARS Champion.

The year 2005 has been an awesome experience for Matt – from proving he can master any track to being a top finalist in the 2005 Roush Driver-X / Discovery Channel Reality Show.  Most recently at Bristol Matt qualified 3rd and finished 12th after coming back from a flat tire. Matt has demonstrated on and off the track that he is ready and willing for that next step.

Matt set his goals and accomplished several of those goals in the 2004 season at Hickory Motor Speedway.  He obtained the Track Championship with an impressive 13 wins, 9 poles, and 18 top 3’s.  Matt also set a new track record of 14.79 in the Late Model Division previously held by Jerry Van Horn with a time 0f 14.86 from 6/92. His first lap broke the track record and his second lap broke his own record.

With that goal accomplished, Matt had his sight set on The 28th Annual Bobby Isaac Memorial 200.  A qualifying time of 14.964 put Matt on the outside pole of a 29-car field.  He patiently waited for a clean passing move, took the lead and led most of the 200 laps of which caution laps were not counted. Matt won the event with the Heart of a Warrior.

Matt led the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Atlantic Regional points for approximately 5 weeks and ended the season in 3rd, only .015 behind the leader.

Matt is the 2004 Valvoline Cup Class Champion in the Paved Late Model Division that includes drivers from all over the country.

The Bailey’s 300 at Martinsville Speedway October 2004 was a goal Matt had also set for himself for 2004.  With 88 of the country’s top drivers represented, Matt qualified 28th and advanced to an impressive 10th place finish in the 225 lap event.

In Matt’s last attempt of the season at HMS, he proved one final point, that his 2004 season was as awesome as he had hoped. From the pole with a 14.881 at the Fall Brawl, he led every lap with ease in the 23-car field.

Matt competed in the “Roush Gong Show” (Nov. 2004) that included 400 drivers, narrowed down to 26 at North Wilkesboro and 10 at Darlington.  Matt proved his ability, having the fastest time at North Wilkesboro, which in turn made him a finalist in the competition at Darlington.  Although not the final winner, Matt is very proud of his performance throughout the testing session.

A Craftsman Truck opportunity arose in October 2003 for the Martinsville Race and Matt proved that within 7 days he could prepare the truck, gather a complete pit crew, a hauler, a truck driver, NASCAR license for himself and the entire team, accommodations and be prepared to race.  With all the leg work behind him, Matt qualified 28th after only a few laps of practice and finished an impressive 21st without a scratch on the truck.

Matt and Robert Yates Racing reached an agreement for Matt to pursue other opportunities in 2007 as the development program was dissolved after Dale Jarrett moved to Toyota. Matt got to run 2 ARCA races and finished 2nd and 3rd (Daytona and Nashville) and he ran 5 Busch Series races (Bristol, Nashville(2), Dover, Martinsville. With snow in Bristol and no practice or qualifying Matt did an outstanding job of finishing the race. Most of the races were started by points due to weather conditions, so there was very little practice or qualifying. But, through it all Matt has learned to continue pursuing his dream with passion and overcome the obstacles.  Matt is forever grateful to Robert Yates Racing for allowing him the opportunity that he was given.  He hopes to be in line for a seat in a truck or Busch ride and continue to race on a full time schedule in 2007.  Keep your prayers going that Matt will be picked up and on the track again soon.

Matt McCall is very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of RYR as they have an awesome program for development drivers.   McCall is scheduled to race 8 ARCA races and 8 Busch races in 2006 under the guidance of Robert Yates Racing. If Daytona is any indication of Yates Power and guidance, Matt McCall will continue his quest to be the best with the best team on the planet. Matt McCall is living the dream of a life time that only a few ever get to experience and we are grateful for this opportunity with Robert Yates Racing. Special Thanks to Robert Yates Racing and CitiFinancial for helping Matt McCall reach his goals.
